Lingowa Gona

Lingowa Gona (linguwaguna) is conlang made by jan Melon in 2022. In reality, it started as a minor neography. I made the writing system first, and then the language to justify it. There are also some elements incorporated from another abandoned conlang. You can see some materials here:

Some Goals / Guidelines

FUNCTIONAL
I should be able to use it for writing diaries, describing events and new unfamiliar objects.

DISTINCT PRONUNCIATION
To make words relatively easy to pronounce and easy to distinguish when heard, I have limited the amount of phonemes, coda, and consonant clusters. Read more on Phonology and Abugida.

MEMORIZABLE
A priori words are unfamiliar which makes it harder for me to learn them. To avoid that, I adopted u/srivatsa_74's strategy in "lingua akademika" of deriving vocabulary from Greek/Latin roots in English words. These words sit in the intersection between familiar and exotic. Mostly they come from technical terms and ten-dollar words that I happen to know. I prioritize Greek over Latin roots, and I check if they fit the phonology or try adapting them without losing recognizability. If it doesn't work, I'll look for other roots or go to other languages.

UNISEX
I try to minimize the amount of gendered words or words with inherent sex, e.g. in species names, familial terms, and form of address.

GRAMMATICAL CUES
I adopted Esperanto's strategy in giving similar word endings to words of the same part of speech. Many basic nouns and adjectives end in vowels, adverbs in -l, physical actions in -s, thoughts and feelings in -m, and states in -n. Nouns also have diminutive and augmentative endings.
